Obituary of Evelyn Spinney
The passing of Evelyn “Joyce” Spinney of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Joseph Spinney occurred on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on May 31, 1927 in Debec, NB, she was the daughter of the late Ewen and Hazel (Sibley) Dickinson. Joyce was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and housewife and will be lovingly remembered as “Grammy Joyce” to all children in the neighborhood as well as “Mommy Joyce.”
Joyce is survived by her daughter, Patricia Lyons (Baxter); sons, Bryan Spinney (Susan) and Jeffrey Spinney (Karen); grandchildren, Christopher (Laurie) and Michael (Courtney) Spinney and Kasey Lyons; great grandchildren, Riley Spinney and Austin Kitchen; several step grandchildren; sister, Eleanor Geldart (Floyd); brother, Arthur Dickinson; several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Joyce was predeceased by her son, Russell Spinney; brothers, Ewen , Harold, Ronald and Arnold Dickinson.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Friday, June 6, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 11am with Rev. Gil MacKenzie officiating. Interment will take place in McKenzie Corner United Cemetery. The family wish to thank nurses and staff of 4NE at the Chalmers Hospital and Dr. Bowden and Dr. Flower. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
