Obituary of Frances Peters

The passing of Frances “Fran” Joyce Peters, wife of the late John R. “Ike” Peters of Douglas, NB, occurred on June 1, 2014 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on September 26, 1940 in Fredericton, NB she was the daughter of the late Myles and Doris (Pyne) Newman. Fran was an active member of the Douglas Baptist Church. She was a member of the choir, taught pioneers and served on committee’s. Fran is survived by her children, Doris Brown (Tony), Howard Peters (Nadine) and Kimberley Billings (Chris); grandchildren, Timothy Brown (Kara), Kristen Brown, Amanda Billings (Bryan), Jennie and Noah Billings, Jonathan and Scott Peters, Matthew Wood (Brittany), Shawn Wood (Samantha) and Corey Wood; great grandchildren, Braydyn and Jackson Brown, Lucus Danalko, Dalice and Quinn Brown, and Walker Wood; brother, William Newman (Gale); sister-in-law, Rowena McFarlane (Charlie); several nieces and nephews; special friends, Diane Hodgson and her daughter Emma Hodgson. Besides her husband and parents Fran was predeceased by her birth mother, Joyce (Craik) Newman and daughter-in-law, Peggy Jane O’Brian. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the Douglas Baptist Church on Wednesday, June 04, 2014 at 2 pm with Rev. Peter Moore officiating and Canon Elaine Hamilton assisting. Pallbearers for the service will be Timothy Brown, Noah Billings, Jonathan Peters, Scott Peters, Matthew Wood and Marcus Hodgson. Honorary pallbearers will be Sunny Urquhart, Clarence Sherman, Royce Vanhorne, Shawn Wood and Corey Wood. Interment will take place at the Dayton Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Douglas Baptist Church, Extra Mural Program or the Fredericton and Area Down Syndrome Society.
