Obituary of Florence McGinn
It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of Jean (Caverhill) McGinn, wife of the late Walter McGinn. Jean passed away peacefully at York Care Centre on Friday, May 9, 2014. Jean was born on February 25, 1927 in Caverhill, NB and is the last surviving member of her immediate family. Jean will be missed by many but particularly most of her family, her daughter, Christine Kelly (Andrew), her son, Tom McGinn (Norine) and her four grandchildren, that meant the world to her, Sam, Alexandra and Chris McGinn and Sarah Kelly. Jean will also be missed by her sisters in law, Isabel Caverhill and Clarice Roxborough both of Fredericton, NB and brother in law, Mike McGinn of Arnprior, ON along with several nieces and nephews that all held a special place in Jean’s heart. In addition to her husband, Walter, Jean was predeceased by her mother, Florence (Caverhill) Miller; father, Herbert Caverhill; step father, William Miller and siblings, Allison, Gerald, Malcolm and Lloyd Caverhill, Ethel Whitehead and Alma MacFarlane.
Jean loved life and she loved having fun. Everyone that knew Jean, loved her dry sense of humour and wit. Whether she was bowling with the girls on the Thursday morning bowling league, golfing at Gilridge Golf Course, camping at Mic Mac Campground, delivering meals on wheels or hanging out with her grandchildren, Jean would always have a smile on her face, she always lived life to the fullest. Jean always made the best of any situation including when she was diagnosed with Alzheimer disease in 2004.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Monday, May 12, 2014 from 6-9 pm. The Funeral Mass will take place at St. Dunstan’s Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 11 am with Father Bill Brennan as celebrant. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer Society of NB or the charity of the donor’s choice. The family would like to thank the staff at York Care Centre Tower Two and the Atrium and also Dr. Paul Kerr for their care over the last six years.
