Obituary of Albert Foster

With sadness we announce the passing of Albert William “Bill” Foster of Maugerville, NB, husband of Mary Jane (Pyne) Foster, which occurred on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on December 28, 1928 in Burtt’s Corner, NB, he is the son of the late Harry Foster and Violet (McCoy) Canney. Bill proudly served in the Canadian Army/CF for 30 years, retiring in 1978 with the rank of Warrant Officer. Bill will always be remembered for his love of the outdoors, hunting, fishing, the Geary racetrack, and his love for children of all ages. He is also well known for his can do attitude and never encountered a problem that he couldn’t fix. In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by daughter, Donna Ryan (Marty) of Petawawa, ON, sons, David (Sandra) of Fredericton, NB and Rodney (Kim) of Kaslo, BC; seven grandchildren, Moira, Megan, Erin, Jordan, Sara, Katie and Michael; great grandchildren, Ethan, Larsen, Autumn and Charlotte; sisters, Edwina Holland (Hartley) and Susan Byer (John) all of Barker’s Point, NB; brothers, Bill Canney (Linda) of Beaverdam, NB, Paul Canney of Mississauga, ON, George Canney (Patsy) of Hanwell, NB, John Canney (Sheila) of Burlington, ON, Jim Canney (Judy) of Stanley, NB and Ron Canney (Pam) of Durham, NB; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his infant daughter, Janet Foster; grandson, Jason Harding; sister, Betty Nicholls; brothers, Eric Canney and Hanford Brewer. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Sunday, May 11, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4 are asked to assemble at York Funeral Home on Sunday for a Tribute Service beginning at 6:45 pm. A Memorial Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 11 am with Rev. Cora Krommenhoek officiating. Interment will take place at Alexander Gibson Memorial Cemetery, Marysville, NB. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke or Canadian Cancer Society.
