Obituary of Gertrude Lyons

The passing of Gertrude “Gertie” Minnie Lyons, wife of the late James Allen Lyons of McNamee, NB occurred on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton, NB. Born in McNamee, NB on November 25, 1919 she was the daughter the late Walter and Florence (O’Donnell) Lyons. Gertrude enjoyed cooking, knitting and listening to music. She was a member of the McNamee Pentecostal Assembly. Gertrude is survived by her daughter, Ruth Chow (Heman) of Doaktown, NB; sons, Donald Lyons (Joan) of Kingston, ON, Stephen Lyons and Alfred Lyons, both of Fredericton, NB; sisters, Mabel Amos of Carroll’s Crossing, NB, Mary Lyons of McNamee, NB, Lois Dore of Brockville, ON; brothers, Carol Lyons of Saint John, NB, Darold Lyons (Alice) of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Shelly Price-Lyons of Storeytown, NB, Darcey Price (Erica) of Penniac, NB, Rachel and Beth Lyons both of Kingston, ON, Michael Lyons (Chantal) of Canal Flats, BC, Joel Lyons (Courtney) of Doaktown, NB and Jen Flewelling (Rob Peterson) of Fredericton, NB; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Madison and Paige Price, Cameron and Trystan Lyons, Paige Peterson, Emily and Brady Porter, Kali and Denisha Lyons, Brock, Lincoln and Summer Lyons; great-great-grandchildren, Brook-Lynn and Aleah Porter; several nieces and nephews; caregiver and chosen family member, Violet Brewer. Besides her husband and parents, Gertrude was predeceased by sisters, Greta Price, Edith “Ede” Price, Ivy O’Donnell; brothers, Murray and Ben Lyons. Visitation will take place at Miramichi Valley Funeral Home, 7681 Route 8, New Bandon, NB on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 from 7-9 pm. A Memorial Service will be held at McNamee Pentecostal Assembly on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at 2 pm with Rev. Cole Price officiating.
