Obituary of Leonard James Poore

The sudden passing of Leonard James “Jim” Poore of Fredericton, NB, spouse of Heather Pugh, occurred on Tuesday, April 08, 2014 at his home in Douglas Harbour, NB. Born on August 1, 1946 in Fredericton, NB, Jim was the son of the late Leonard C. and Gladys (Moir) Poore. Jim was a sales manager for Port Royal Distillers and previously worked for Moosehead Breweries for many years and worked for Philippe Dandurand Wines. He was a member of Local Service District of Canning at Douglas Harbour, Alexandria Lodge and Fredericton City Club. He was also a past member of the Fredericton Sports Investment and a past board member of Mill Cove Nursing Home. Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years; reading and was an avid hockey and golf player. He was a family man who lived and loved life. Jim was a humble and kind spirited man who shared his life with many special friends. In addition to his spouse, Jim is survived by daughter, Leslie Jill Poore (Dave) of Bracebridge, ON; son, Jamie Poore (Kim) of Ontario; stepdaughter, Natalie Pugh (Mike) of Fredericton, NB; stepson, Jason Pugh (Dan) of Montreal, QC; grandchildren, Taylor, Maddison, Mackenzie and Cohen; step grandchildren, Robbie and Jessica; sister, Pam Poore of Fredericton, NB; brother in law, George Brawn (Terry) of Fredericton, NB and sister in law, Judy Pope (Andy) of Fredericton, NB; nieces and nephews, Shelley (Jim), Ashley (Adam), Melanie, Krista (Paul) and Geoff (Tricia). Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Friday, April 11, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at Gibson Memorial United Church on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 3 pm with Rev. Cora Krommenhoek officiating. Interment will be in Sunny Bank Cemetery, Fredericton, NB at a later date. The Pallbearers will be Jamie Poore, Paul De Bouver, Wayne Hallihan, Robert Earle, George Brawn, Eldon Hunter and Andy Pope; Honourary Pallbearers are Al Whitehead, Scott Walker, Gary Clark, Ron Morris and Chris Mabie.
