Obituary of Mary Atwin

The family of Mary Ellen (Jones) Atwin are deeply saddened to announce that she passed away at the Dr Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton after a courageous three year battle with cancer. Born in Saint John, NB, Mary is the daughter of the late Carl W. Jones and Marjorie J. Jones. Mary will be deeply missed by her children, Jody Wagstaff (Becky), Tanya Smith (Shawn), and Allyson Atwin; her grandchildren, Lyrik Wagstaff and Foster and Bren Smith. Mary will be greatly missed by her beloved sister, Carol Thorn (Paul) and her dear brother, Steven Jones; her nieces and nephews, Vanessa Thorn, Matthew, Michael (Sara), and Christopher Jones, Crystal Atwin, Savannah and Marcey Atwin Polchies and Theo Polchies. Mary was predeceased by her brothers, Michael and Gary Jones and her stepson, Josh Sabattis. Mary will be missed by her Atwin family and all of her friends and family in Kingsclear First Nation. The family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses at the Dr Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital for their wonderful care and kindness provided to Mary. Mary will always be remembered by her many friends and family for her amazing light, smile, laughter and sassiness. She could often be seen driving around with her music cranked, dancing in her car. Mary always had a listening ear and kind words for friends and strangers in an effort to brighten their day. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Theresa's Parish, 1 William Street, Fredericton, NB, at 11 am on Friday, March 14, 2014. Memorial and celebration will follow in the church basement. Interment will be in the St Joseph’s Cemetery in St John, later in the spring. As expressions of sympathy, donations to any charity of the donors' choice would be appreciated by the family.
