Obituary of Norman Stewart

The passing of Norman Thompson Stewart, husband of Jacqueline (Abernethy) Stewart, occurred Saturday, March 08, 2014 at the Veterans Health Unit. Born April 02, 1923 in Carnoustie, Angus, Scotland, he was the son of the late Thomas and Margaret (Tosh) Stewart. Norman served overseas for four years in the Second World War, and then worked with the Ford Dealership for 45 years with the last 27 of them at Wood Motors. Norman was a member of the Oromocto Golf Club, the Royal Canadian Legion Fredericton Branch #4 and a past member of the Fredericton Elks Club. In addition to his wife, Norman is survived by his son, Paul Stewart (Linda) of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Marcie Wall (Patrick) and Jeremy Stewart (Abigail); great grandchildren, Noah and Charlie Wall and Chase and Eva Stewart; brothers, Allan (Helga) and Frank (Vera) Stewart. Besides his parents, Norman was predeceased by his sisters, Margaret Ann Riddell and Olive Meehan-Duval; brothers, Thomas Stewart Jr. and Douglas Stewart; and special cousin Anna Mill. There will be no visitation or service by Norman’s request. Interment will take place in the Sunny Bank Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Veterans Health Unit, New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Cancer Society. Norman’s family would like to give a special thank you to the nurses and staff of the Veterans Health Unit for their loving tender care they provided during Norman’s time spent there.
