Obituary of Albert Dorcas

The passing of Albert William Dorcas of Cross Creek, NB, husband of Avis (Sparkes) Dorcas occurred on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on June 23, 1928 in Williamsburg, NB, he was the son of the late William and Viola (Gallagher) Dorcas. Albert was a woodsmen, sawyer, boat builder, carpenter, hunter, fishermen and trapper. In addition to his wife, Albert is survived by his daughter, Rosemary Stewart of Trenton, ON; son, Dale (Jacqueline) Dorcas of Riverview, NB; brother in law, Ronald Sparkes (Beth) of Happy Valley, Goose Bay, NL; grandchildren, Tina Beers (Aaron), Shelley Craswell (Sean), Andrea Stewart Gower (Matt) and Jennifer Gauvin (Craig); great grandchildren, Connor, Ryan, Zachary, Andy, Jackson and Noah; sisters, Maxine (Elwood) Merrill of New Maryland, NB and Hazel Dorcas of Fredericton, NB; nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Norma Brewer and Eileen Mersereau and son in law, Glen Stewart. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at Cross Creek Baptist Church on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 2 pm with Rev. Gordon Mowry officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be Patrick Flynn, David Thomas, Douglas Bird, Philip McGeehan, John Sansom and Shane Sansom. Interment will take place in Cross Creek Baptist Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
