Obituary of Jerry Hallihan
The sudden passing of Jerry Joseph Hallihan of Fredericton, NB, husband of Doris (Matchett) Hallihan, occurred on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, after a brief illness. Born on September 05, 1939 in Newcastle, NB, he was the son of the late Basil and Elsie (Furlong) Hallihan. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church. Jerry was a self employed truck drive, for over 57 years. He was a member of the NB Truckers Association and the Lake George Snowmobile Club. Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, snowmobiling and was an avid race car fan.
In addition to his wife, Jerry is survived by his daughters, Wendy Banks (Scott) and Pam Greer (Hal); son, Wayne Hallihan (Wendy) all of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Greg Hallihan, Jenna Hallihan, Amber Banks, Hollie Greer and Justin Wilson; great grandchildren, Jordan, Nate, Cameron and Farrah; sisters, Yvonne Wray (Kenny) and Elizabeth Nowlan both of the Miramichi, NB; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother in law, Tom Nowlan.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Thursday, February 27, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Friday, February 28, 2014 at 2 pm with Father Monte Peters officiating. Honourary Pallbearers will be Ronnie Graham, Kevin Saunders, Kenny Williston, Kenny Phelan, Danny Saunders (posthumously) and Walter Williston (posthumously). Interment will take place in St. Anthony’s Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the New Brunswick Lung Association, Canadian Cancer Society or the Fredericton SPCA. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
