Obituary of Ivan Fawcett

We regret to announce the passing of Ivan Leslie Fawcett of Fredericton, NB on Monday, February 24, 2014 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born in Nortondale, NB on July 25, 1929, he was the son of the late Hedley and Elsie (Stewart) Fawcett. He was employed for a short time at Woodswork, and then moved to Fredericton where he was employed with Maritime Engineering Limited for 35 plus years as a Job Foreman and later as a General Superintendent. Ivan enjoyed time spent at Beulah Camp in Brown’s Flat and also at his camp in Nortondale. He was a very caring and wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. Ivan is loved and survived by his wife, Edith (Grant) Fawcett; his son, Stephen (Donna) Fawcett, two granddaughters, Leslie and Jenny of Fredericton; son, Robert “Bob” Fawcett of Fredericton; brother, John Fawcett of Millville; sisters, Hazel Fekete of Whitehorse, YK and Donna Scott (Archie) of Quispamsis, NB; sister-in-law, Margaret Fawcett of Woodstock; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Eva Tapley; brother, Albert Fawcett; an infant brother; sister-in-law, Eva Fawcett; two brothers-in-law, Bob Tapley and Tony Fekete. Visitations will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at York Funeral T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at 2 pm with Rev. Bob Dunlop officiating and Rev. Matthew Maxwell assisting. Interment will be held at the Nortondale Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Nortondale Cemetery or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
