Obituary of Charles Allport

The passing of Charles Edward Allport of Fredericton, NB, husband of the late Judith (Sarson) Allport, occurred on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on November 15, 1941 in Fredericton, NB, he was the son of the late Charles and Gwendoline (Townsend) Allport. Charles was bank manager with the Scotia Bank in various locations and then worked for the Province of New Brunswick. After retiring from the province, Charles worked at Home Hardware on Main Street for seven years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends and was taught how to tie flies in which he sold at Home Hardware for several years. Charles is survived by his special friend and the love of his life Marjorie Boone; sons, Robert (Kelly) Allport of Sherwood Park, AB and Kevin (Lynn) Allport of St. Andrews, NB and their mother, Alice Rowan; grandchildren, Andrew (Chanel), Laura and Jonathon Allport; great granddaughter, Lily Allport; sisters, Deborah Allport (Rejean Arseneau), Patricia McFawn, Violet (William) McFawn and Helen (Philip) Lefebvre; brothers, Richard (Nancy) Allport and William (Albertine) Allport; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. His two special friends the Scottish Terriers, Mandy and Toby are joining him. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Sunday, February 2, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Memorial Service will take place at St. John the Evangelist Church, 75 Main Street, Fredericton, NB on Monday, February 3, 2014 at 2 pm with Canon Bill MacMullin officiating. Interment will take place in St. John the Evangelist Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
