Obituary of Charles McGivney

It is with heartfelt sadness that the family announces the passing of Charles Winston McGivney of Nashwaak Village, NB, husband of Doris (Estey) McGivney, occurred on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on May 29, 1942 in Fredericton, NB, he was the son of the late Harry and Pearl (McKay) McGivney. He retired in 1994 from the CN Railway. Charles enjoyed reading, hockey, cooking, genealogy and crafts. In addition to his wife of 43 years, Charles is survived by his step children, Debbie Farrell (Harry), Terry Hazlett (Karen), Tom Hazlett (Lori) and Jeannie Stewart (Rick); grandchildren, Teri-Lyn, Virginia, Sayard, Kyle, Amanda, Dacia, Courtney, Cody and Ashley; great grandchildren, Madison, Marcail, Hank and Douglas; sister, Lorraine Fullarton (Paul); several nieces and nephews; special canine friend, Cody-Bear. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Winona Forbes; brothers, Robert “Bob” McGivney and Malcolm “Mac” McGivney. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Thursday, January 30, 2014 from 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Friday, January 31, 2014 at 2 pm with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Interment will take place in Douglas Rural Cemetery at a later date.
