Obituary of Douglas Stewart

The passing of Douglas Wade Stewart of Pine Grove Nursing Home, formerly of Taymouth, NB, occurred on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Pine Grove Nursing Home. Born on July 6, 1922 in Taymouth, NB, he was the son of the late Elijah and Annie (Wade) Stewart. Doug is survived by his daughters, Linda Johnston, Mary Goodine (Don), Sheila Harris (Ken) and Theresa Veniot (Peter); son, Donnie Stewart (Kim); grandchildren, Jeffrey Johnston (Heather), Doug Johnston (Carol), Donnie Goodine (Stephanie), Thomas Goodine (Jill), Sara Harris, Melissa Harris (Paul), Nicole Stewart and Joey Stewart (Toni); great grandchildren, Kari Lynn, Anthony, Molly, Sophia, Wyatt, Jacob, Sierra and Cameron; sister, Elva Munn; sister in laws, Faye and Dawn; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Doug was predeceased by his sisters, Lillian and Florence; brothers, John, Scott, Ken, Basil and Percy. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Sunday, January 26, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Beaverbrook Branch # 80 are asked to assemble at 7 pm for a Legion Tribute Service. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Monday, January 27, 2014 at 2 pm with Pastor A.J. Plazier officiating. Honourary Pallbearers will be Doug’s grandchildren. Interment will take place at Taymouth Community Cemetery at a later date. Special thanks to the entire staff of Pine Grove Nursing Home for their care and kindness shown to dad during his stay there. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion, Beaverbrook Branch # 80, Nashwaak Bridge, NB or to the Pine Grove Nursing Home.
