Obituary of Mary Spinney
The passing of Mary Alice (Collier) Spinney of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Carl Spinney occurred on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at the York Care Centre. Born on May 31, 1923 in Fosterville, NB, she was a daughter of the late Hazen and Hazel (McNerlin) Collier. Mary worked as a library clerk for the Harriet Irving Library and was a past member of Nashwaaksis Women’s Institute.
Mary is survived by her son, Hazen (Fran) Spinney of Douglas, NB; grandson, Craig (Stephanie Bower) Spinney of Hanwell, NB; sister, Elva Thompkins of Fredericton, NB; brothers, Tom (Gladys) Collier of Fosterville, NB; Sam (Delores) Collier of Fosterville, NB; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Mary was predeceased by her daughter, Pamela Spinney; sister, Avis Henry and brother, Lester Collier.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Thursday, January 9, 2014 from 6-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at Nashwaaksis Baptist Church, 104 Edgewood Drive, Fredericton, NB on Friday, January 10, 2014 at 11 am with Rev. Paul Ross and Rev. Kevin Culberson officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be Lloyd Tompkins, Brian Saunders, Craig Spinney and Garfield Corey. Interment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery, Fredericton, NB at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the York Care Foundation or to the charity of the donor’s choice. The family wishes to extend their gratitude and thanks to the York Manor staff at each level of care and service. Your caring and compassionate nature was so appreciated over the past 10 ½ years.
