Obituary of Wilton Newell

The passing of Wilton “Bill” Eugene Newell of Fredericton, NB, occurred on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on May 28, 1918 in Berwick, NS, he was the son of the late Preston and Hattie (Nickerson) Newell. He was a Veteran of WWII. Bill was the owner and operator of Bill’s Barber Shop. He enjoyed golfing and bowling. Bill is survived by his daughters, Glenna Richardson (David) of Fredericton, NB and Beth Friis (Chris) of Lawrencetown, NS; sons, Robert Newell (Karin) of Fredericton, NB and David Newell (Jean) of Mactaquac, NB; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brother, Herbert Newell (Cassie) of Woods Harbour, NS; several nieces and nephews; second wife, Anne Newell. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Pat (Bezanson) Newell; third wife, Dorothy (Delong) (Wade) Newell; infant sister, Elizabeth and brother, Ashford. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 2 pm with Rev. Joseph Beesley officiating, with Rev. Weldon Munch and Rev. Harold Jenkins assisting. Interment will take place in Douglas Rural Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick.
