Merrill, Ernest Gilbert
The passing of Ernest Gilbert Merrill of Willamsburg, NB occurred on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Nashwaak Villa, Stanley, NB. Born in Green Hill, NB on September 13, 1927, he was the son of the late Arthur and Mabel D. (Donnelly) Merrill. Ernest was a self employed Mechanic. He worked for CNR, Sparkes Mill and other local mills. He enjoyed horse hauls, gardening, the Stanley Fair, conversation at the Brookside Mall and was Mr. Chainsaw in 1948. He took part in the Florenceville Live Stock Sale where he loved to buy and sell. He especially loved and enjoyed his family.
Ernest is survived by his wife, Marie Linda (Brown) Merrill; sons, Arthur Merrill of Williamsburg, NB, Marty Merrill (Roberta) of Williamsburg, NB, Paul (Anne) of White Court, AB and David Merrill (Donna) of Sussex, NB; daughters, Roxanne Merrill Young (Mark) of Taymouth, NB, Doreen Merrill (Steven MacKay) of Stanley, NB, Melissa Merrill of Fredericton, NB, Shyanne Merrill of Williamsburg, NB and Charlotte Merrill of Williamsburg, NB; grandchildren, Craig, Shelley, Jason, Sandi, Loretta, Norma, Mark, Michael, Jennifer, Lynn, JoAnne, Candy, Glen, Sarah, Eric, Brett, Abbi, Benjamin, Trisha, Vayda, Issac, Samantha, Madison and Hannah; 30 great-grandchildren; sisters Greta (Wilbur) Thomas of Fredericton, NB, Mavis Gallagher of Taymouth, NB, Shirley Faulkenham of Halifax, NS and Lottie (Allan) Munn of Stanley, NB; son-in-law, Bill Sweeney of Fredericton, NB and brother-in-law, Tom Carson of Holtville, NB. He was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Mabel D. (Donnelly) Merrill; first wife, Norma (Gullison) Merrill; daughter, Jacqueline Sweeney; infant grandchild, Derrick; sister, Alice Carson; brother, Russell (Annie) Merrill; brothers-in-law, Irvine Munn, Elwood Faulkenham and Thurston Gallagher.
Visitation will take place at Cross Creek Baptist Church on Monday, December 23, 2013 from 12 to 3 pm followed by a Funeral Service at 3 pm with Pastor Gordon Mowry and Pastor Allan Myshrall officiating. Interment will take place at Cross Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Cross Creek Baptist Cemetery or the charity of the donor’s choice.
