Obituary of Herman MacDonald

The passing of Herman William MacDonald of Springfield, NB, husband of the late Margaret Rose (Porter) MacDonald, occurred on Monday, December 09, 2013 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital surrounded by family. Born in Scotch Settlement, NB, he was a son of the late William and Myrtle (Parker) MacDonald. Herman retired from Charmac Construction. He served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 3 years with the Lord Strathacona’s, was an active member of Springfield Community Church, a former member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Nackawic, NB and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his children, Darla MacDonald (Leonard Kelly), Dawn Mazerall, Paul MacDonald (Angela), Dana MacDonald, and Ginny MacDonald-Knorr (Stephen); eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; siblings, Bertha Foster, Lillian Guiggey (John), Frances Merrill, Betty Porter, Roy MacDonald, June Yerxa (Phillip) and Carolyn Lively (Patrick) and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Herman was predeceased by his infant brothers, Philip, Murdock and Stanley; sister-in-law, Jean MacDonald; brothers-in-law, Del Merrill, Eastman Foster and Charles Porter; son-in-law, John Mazerall. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 11 am with Rev. George Clarke officiating and Rev. Hollis Clarke Jr. assisting. Pallbearers are Kevin Foreman, Kevin Yerxa, Richard Yerxa, Vernon MacDonald, Douglas Albright and Royce Hoyt. Interment will be held in Scotch Settlement Cemetery at a later date.
