Obituary of Cedric Stewart

The passing of Cedric Allan Stewart of Fredericton, NB, husband of Gail Barton occurred on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on April 16, 1933 in McNamee, NB, he was the son of the late John and Francine (McAleer) Stewart. Cedric was a Veteran of the Korean War. He served in the military from August 1953 to October 1968, Theatres of Service in Canada, Far East, Middle East and Continental Europe. He was a fifty year member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #78, Boiestown, NB. In addition to his wife, Cedric is survived by his daughters, Vicky Price (Jeff) of Red Deer, AB and Angela Bruce (Draper) of Bloomfield Ridge, NB; son, Grant Stewart of Fredericton, NB; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; siblings, Derwyn Stewart (Carmelle) of Fredericton, NB, Wilma Spencer (Bliss) of Taxis River, NB and Linda Peterson (Leonard) of Doaktown, NB; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Marina. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Thursday, November 28, 2013 from 12-2 pm; members of the Royal Canadian Legion Normandy Branch # 78, Boiestown, NB are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 1:45 pm for a Legion Tribute Service followed by the Funeral Service at 2 pm with Canon John Cathcart officiating. Interment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
