Obituary of Howard Gilliss

The passing of Howard Lewis Gilliss of Fredericton, NB, husband of Esther A. Gilliss occurred on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on October 20, 1930 in Chatham, NB, he was the son of the late Gordon and Grace (Dick) Gilliss. He was a member of Nashwaaksis United Church. Howard worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for the Iron Ore Company of Canada in Labrador City; he also worked at Tractors and Equipment in Fredericton, NB. He enjoyed wood working and making lawn furniture from cedar wood. In addition to his wife, Howard is survived by his daughter, Carolee Hynes (Rene) of Labrador City, NL; son, Paul Gilliss (Rachel) of Allardville, NB; grandchildren, Cheryl Ann Hynes and Tammy Paulette Woodford; great grandsons, Jarred Charles Hynes and Morgan Woodford all of Labrador City, NL; sister, Agnes Lamkey (Tom) of Chatham, NB; several nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation by request. A Memorial Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 2 pm with Rev. J. D.
