Obituary of Joyce MacLoon

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Joyce Mary MacLoon (nee Henry) of McLeod Hill, wife of the late Frank MacLoon, which occurred on Monday, October 28, 2013 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on August 10, 1931 in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Willard and Annie Christina (Kemp) Henry. Joyce graduated from Mount Allison University in 1952 with a B.Sc. in Home Economics. She taught Home Economics at Ayers Cliff and Magog in Quebec before she and Frank returned to New Brunswick. Sewing, knitting, embroidery and playing the piano were among her many talents. Her passion for sewing began at a very early age; she sewed everything from doll clothes to her own clothing and her family. We can all definitely attest to her wonderful culinary skills, we all loved to eat Mom’s cooking! Joyce had been a Sunday school teacher, was a member of the NB Home Economics Association and the Nashwaaksis Y’s Menettes. She and Frank enjoyed square dancing and travelling, especially to Myrtle Beach with their close friends. Joyce and Frank were always avid supporters of all their children’s and grandchildren’s activities; from sports to music. She loved animals and her little sheltie Paige was a constant companion. Family always came first for Mom and her cheerful support of Frank’s community and professional endeavours was unwavering. Her beautiful smile and positive attitude will always be remembered by her family and friends. Joyce is survived by her children, Chris MacLoon-Power and Debbie MacLoon-Agnew (Allan) both of Fredericton, Peter MacLoon (Brenda) of McLeod Hill and Alan MacLoon (Stacie) of Yoho Lake; six grandchildren, Ben Power, Scott and Sean Agnew, Sarah MacLoon, Cody and Kylee MacLoon; sister-in-law, Aubrey McLeod (Harold) of Fredericton; nephew, Stephen Henry (Roxie); niece, Cathy LaRochelle (Wayne) and her constant companion, her sheltie “Paige”. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Alan Henry; sister-in-law, Jean MacLoon and son-in-law, Mike Power. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Friday, November 1, 2013 from 6-9 pm. A Memorial Service will take place at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 1 pm with Canon Bill MacMullin officiating. Reception will follow in the church hall. Interment will take place in St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church Cemetery.
