Obituary of Geoffrey Williams
Geoffrey (Geoff) Bernard Williams of Napier, New Zealand, now of Fredericton, NB, died suddenly of a heart attack on Saturday, October 5, 2013 in Rome, Italy, while on holiday with his wife, Marina Caissie - a self described “trip of a lifetime.” He was predeceased by his father, Gordon of Napier, New Zealand in April 2006. He is mourned by many and is survived by his mother, Nola; sisters, Helen (Graeme) Hare and Christine (Neil) Cunningham; nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews also of Napier, New Zealand. Geoff is also survived by his two daughters, Fiona Williams of Fredericton, NB and Roslyn (Kent) McFarlane of Toronto, ON. He is survived by his wife, Marina Caissie, of Campbellton, NB, now of Fredericton, NB and her daughters and grandchildren.
Geoff was a dedicated fan of the New Zealand All Blacks Rugby team, a sailing enthusiast – most recently a member at the Mactaquac Sailing Club and he had a discerning palate for fine whiskey as a long time member of the Fredericton Whiskey Tasting Society. He lived internationally with his work as a civil engineer, respected in his field of costing large projects. His projects moved him and his young family to Iran, Egypt, Indonesia, across Canada as well as England and China after his children were grown. Finally settling in Fredericton, NB after first living here (1989-1991) in 2003. He met his wife Marina in August 2005, married in June 2010 and was content in his hobbies and retired life.
Visitation will be held at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Thursday, October 17, 2013 from 9 – 10:30 am with a Memorial Service to follow in York Funeral Home’s T.
