Obituary of Edgar Cormier

Edgar Joseph Cormier of Fredericton, NB, husband of the late Anita Mary (Richardson) Cormier, died peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on February 7, 1928 in Berlin, NH, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Elizabeth (Robichaud) Cormier. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Parish. He was a self employed carpenter. Edgar was an active fiddle player in the community playing with several groups; he also enjoyed square dancing. His most precious time was spent with his family. Edgar is survived by his sons, Kenneth, Leonard (Sharon) and Donald all of Fredericton, NB; daughters, Sylvia Riley of Alberta and Regina Hanna (Chris) of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Andrew, Shawn (Natasha), Melissa and Donald “DJ” Cormier, Monica Kirk (Patrick), David Riley (Lacey) and their father, Mark, Adam, Joe and Maria Hanna; great-grandchildren, Dillan and Noah Riley, and Mea Hanna-Sedge; sisters, Lena Godin, Blanche Bernard, Florida Hachey, Georgina Inhoff and Cecile Smith; brothers, Raymond (Freda) and Ludger (Heather). In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his infant daughter, Theresa; sisters, Diane (Gabelus) St. Pierre and Aurora (Ernest) Gagnon; brothers, Wilfred, Frank and Ernest (Ester); brothers in law, Gabelus St. Pierre, Nicholas Godin, Ernest Gagnon, Henrik Inhoff and Leonard Smith. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Sunday, October 13, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church on Monday, October 14, 2013 at 11 am with Father Monte Peters as celebrant. Interment will take place in St. Anthony’s Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or the Canadian Arthritis Society.
