Obituary of Gary Kerr

The passing of Gary Winston Kerr of Fredericton, NB, husband of Phyllis (Cowie) Kerr occurred on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on October 30, 1945 in Doaktown, NB he was a son of the late Winston and Opal (Storey) Kerr. Gary worked with NB Tel as a Senior Engineer Technologist for several years. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Gary was a jack of all trades and enjoyed spending time at the camp in St. Andrew’s. In his spare time he volunteered with the Canadian Red Cross. In addition to his wife, Gary is survived by his children, Shelley Kerr (Tony Sheffield) of Kentville, NS and Graham Kerr (Carol Gatien) of Fredericton, NB; sister, Betty Kerr of Minto, NB; brother, Dwight Kerr (Carolyn Buchanan) of Fredericton, NB; nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Gary was predeceased by an infant brother, Ronald Kerr. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from St. Thomas United Church, Doaktown, NB on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at 2 pm with Rev. Paul McGrattan officiating. Interment will take place in Doaktown United Church Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances can be made to the Canadian Red Cross or to the Chalmers Hospital Foundation (Oncology Dept.).
