Obituary of Irvine MacBean

The passing of Irvine “Eugene” MacBean, husband of the late Maxine (Moore) MacBean, of Fredericton, NB, occurred on Monday, September 23, 2013 at Shannex Nursing Home. Born on October 30, 1927 in Ward Settlement, NB, he was a son of the late Donald MacBean and Myrtle Donahue. Eugene was a Mechanic with Lawson Motors for 30 years; he retired from Mactaquac Provincial Park in 1984. He was a member of Mactaquac Baptist Church, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 4 and a Veteran of the Korean War. Eugene will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and collector of many things. He is survived by his children, F. Jeannie Sowers of Scotch Lake, NB, David (Shelley) of Brooklin, ON, Edwina (Adam Carter) of Fredericton, NB and Veronica MacBean of Naomi, BC; nine grandchildren, Bethany Gillies of Fredericton, NB, Shelley Sowers (Shawn Gauthier) of Pennfield, NB, Travis Sowers (Becky McGeehan) of Scotch Lake, NB, Robert Sharpe (Katie) of Fredericton, NB, Bradley Carter (Kim Rivorie) of Fredericton, NB, Bailey Carter (Brad Sacobie) of Kingsclear, NB, Jordan MacBean (Cheryl) of Brooklin, ON, Amanda MacBean (Josh MacDonald) of Brooklin, ON and Amber Pevec of Naomi, BC; great grandchildren: Oliver & Aaron Clowater, Max & Mackie Carter, Melodie Rivorie, Samuel Sowers and Stella Sharpe; one sister, Betty Bushell (Victor) of Fredericton, NB; one brother, Angus MacBean (Della) of British Columbia; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Shirley Gillies; brother, Fraser MacBean and nephew, Chris Bushell. Visitation will take place at Mactaquac Baptist Church on Thursday, September 26, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4 are asked to assemble at 7 pm for a Tribute Service. A Funeral Service will be held from the church on Friday, September 27, 2013 at 2 pm with Rev. Peter Beckwith and Rev. Ralph Irving officiating. Interment will take place in Mactaquac Baptist Church Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Diabetic Association, the Multiple Sclerosis Society, the SPCA or to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 4.
