Obituary of Carole Spray

The passing of Carole (Jeffery) Spray, wife of William “Bill” Spray, of Fredericton, NB, occurred on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on May 10, 1942 in Moncton, NB, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Marjorie (Berry) Jeffery. Carole was a Social Worker with the Department of Family Services and taught part time at both St. Thomas and UNB. Carole was an author of Maritime Folklore including, “Will’o the Wisp” and the children’s book, “The Mare’s Egg”. In her spare time Carole was a painter, enjoyed travelling, the ocean and spending time with her grandchildren. Besides her husband, Carole is survived by her daughter, Carolyn McCullough (Ryan) of Fredericton, NB; son, Michael Spray (Theresa) of Quispamsis, NB; grandchildren, Cayley, Matthew, Adam, Piper-Lily and Ryca; brother, Norman Jeffrey (Donna) of Wolfville, NS ; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Thursday, August 15, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated from St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church on Friday, August 16, 2013 at 12 pm with Father John Jennings as celebrant. Interment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Camp Triumph, a cause that was close to her heart and founded by members of Carole’s family.
