Obituary of Cora Adelaide Hunter

HUNTER, CORA ADELAIDE

It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of our dear mother Cora Adelaide Hunter of Fredericton, NB which occurred on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at York Care Centre, surrounded by her daughters.  Born on May 17, 1941 in Porter Cove, NB,  she was the daughter of the late Roy W. and Henrietta M. (Hovey) Hovey. Mom was a devoted mother and grandmother, and a faithful friend, always there to support anyone who needed her. She was the center of our family and will be missed more than words can be expressed.  She was retired from the Province of NB Department of Health. She spent many years as a volunteer in the gift shop of the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.  She was a faithful member of Smythe Street Cathedral for 35 years.

Cora is survived by her daughters, Brenda MacLellan, Heather Sutherland (Brian), Cindy McGivney (Donnie) and Anna-Marie Hunter (Tom Gibson) all of Fredericton, NB; son-in-law, Billy MacLellan of Taxis River, NB; sister-in-law, Etta Parker (Fred); grandsons, Rob Sutherland (Shelly) of New Bandon, NB, Stephen Brown (Sarah) of Fredericton, NB, Jonathan Sutherland of Fredericton, NB and Jeffrey MacLellan (Jodi) of Parkers Ridge, NB, Anthony McGivney; granddaughter, Lisa Banks (Lee) of Fredericton, NB; great-grandchildren, Tanner and Kristen Sutherland, Matthew and Austen Boone, Austin Gorman, Rylee Rowsell, Stephen Brown, Cora and Mason Banks; great great grandchildren, Bentley Sutherland and Brynleigh Arbeau; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Alberta Nagle, Bessie "Shooks" McKay and Rae Whalen; her brothers,  Allan, Norman, Hugh and  Ralph, and her longtime companion, Glen Tapley and grandson Rick McGivney.

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 from 3-6 pm.  The Funeral Service will take place at Smythe Street Cathedral, 913 Smythe Street, Fredericton, NB on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at 1 pm with Rev. Wayne Flowers officiating.  Interment will take place in St. James the Greater Anglican Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to St. James the Greater Anglican Cemetery, Ludlow NB, Astle Community Cemetery, Astle, NB or a charity of the donor’s choice.  Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
