Obituary of Marlena Marie Malek

Marlena Marie Malek (Long) of Fredericton, NB, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at Shannex – Frederick Hall, Fredericton, NB. Born on December 27, 1949 in Porter Cove, NB, she was the daughter of the late Allen and Victoria (Lyons) Long. 

Marlena was a loving mother and grandmother. Her beautiful heart and kind soul would help anyone and her joy and light was infectious. She had a gentle nature, warm smile and a spirit that would light up any room. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by every person whose lives she has touched. 

Marlena is survived by her daughters, Stephanie Frenette (Clay) of Fredericton, NB, Amanda Hicks (Peter) of Whitehorse, YT; son, Nicholas Malek of Calgary, AB; sisters, Ardith Whalen (Wayne) of Fredericton, NB, Carol Price (Danny) of Priceville, NB; brothers, Kevin Long and Arden Long both of Porter Cove, NB; grandchildren, Fearne and Faryn Frenette, Camille Hicks, Lewis and Elsie Malek, and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Marlena was predeceased by her brothers, Wayne, Ronnie, Jerry and James.
