Obituary of Eldon Richard Dunphy

The passing of Eldon Richard Dunphy of Fredericton, NB, husband of the late Geraldine (Brewer) Dunphy, occurred on Monday, December 2, 2024 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on July 30, 1929 in Burtts Corner, NB, he was a son of the late James and Edna (White) Dunphy.

Eldon was a gentle man who loved gardening and woodworking. He spent his career as a self-employed Carpenter & took great pride in his work as well as all that he did during his life time. He was a believer in life-long learning and perservered living on his own up until the time he was recently admitted to the hospital. He was a loyal husband and father and a loving grandfather and he is greatly missed. Eldon was also a devout church member and had a strong faith in God. He was kind to everyone he met. 

Eldon is survived by his grandchildren, Graham Dunphy of Fredericton, NB and Rosalind Dunphy of Fredericton, NB.

Besides his wife and parents, Eldon was predeceased by his son, Gary Dunphy; brothers, Lorne and Murray Dunphy; sister, Irene Brewer; half brothers, Lauriston, Philemon and Victor Lawrence and James Dunphy; half sisters, Georgia Griffiths-Jewett and Dorothy Williams.

There will be no visitation by request. A Memorial Service will take place from Douglas Baptist Church, 1012 Route 105, Douglas, NB on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at 2 pm with Rev. Peter Moore officiating. A reception will follow the service. The service will also be available at www.yorkfh.com (Link at top of the obituary). Interment will take place in Burtts Corner Community Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Douglas Baptist Church or to a charity of the donor's choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
