Obituary of Debbie Doucet
It is with heavy hearts we wish to announce the passing of Deborah (Debbie) Ann Doucet of Fredericton, N.B. wife of Alfred (Alfie) Doucet on Friday, November 29, 2024, peacefully at home. Born on November 5, 1955, in Stanley, N.B., she was a daughter of the late Marvin and Bernice (Williams) Dunphy.
In addition to her cherished husband, she was a devoted mother and grandmother to her daughters, Sarah Doucet (Joey Myers) and Jennifer Carson (Jon); granddaughters, Jillian, Lauren, and Olivia (John). She is also survived by brothers, Tim Dunphy (Betty deceased) and Rob Dunphy (Michele), sister Lisa Cockburn (Blair), sisters-in-law Patricia Dunphy and Mindy Dunphy; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Debbie was predeceased by her brothers David Dunphy and Tony Dunphy.
Family was very important to Debbie and she was happiest spending time with her husband, daughters, and granddaughters whom she adored. She was a trusted confidante to many of her nieces, nephews, and friends, though she was known to many of us as the Debbie-hotline if we needed to get or give information out quick. The Doucet home was always a welcome place for friends and family.
Debbie was a long-time employee of the Bank of Montreal, and the friends she made there remain her friends today. She taught her kids to be strong and independent, and led us through example every day. She was a woman of many talents including knitting, sewing, baking; often sharing those talents with friends and family alike. Debbie has outfitted an entire 60 member girls choir a few times over in hand-sewn uniforms and made countless bridesmaid dresses for so many weddings. In her retirement, she dedicated much of her time to supporting breast cancer survivors, through her knitting, making a lasting impression on many lives through the Knitted Knockers of Canada organization. She was even featured on CBC news on October, even though she didn’t really like having her picture taken. She was a life-long avid reader and never without a book on the go. Mom’s heart was full of love and laughter.
In keeping with Debbie’s wishes and in tribute to her Irish heritage, a celebration of life will take place at O’Hickey’s Irish Pub at 514 Queen St., Fredericton on Thursday, December 5 from 2 pm to 4 pm. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com.
For those who wish, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Chalmers Foundation.
Mom will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
