Obituary of Diane Trepanier
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Marie Dianne Trépanier, lovingly known as Diane or Dancing Water, on November 27, 2024, in Fredericton, New Brunswick, due to heart failure. Diane was predeceased by her parents, Roland and Doreen Trépanier (née Cavanaugh).
She is survived by her beloved brothers: David; Denis (Sheryl, with their children Brett and Colin); Valmont (Francine, with their children Joanne and Jean-François, and predeceased daughter Marie-Hélène); and Alan-Dale. She will forever be remembered by her daughters: Michelle Wood (nee McArthur) (Ricky, with their children Michael, Tyler, and Gabrielle), Kyla Cieczkowski (with her children Keira Cieczkowski [son Deejay], Liam Cieczkowski, and Ian Mellick), and Laura Florian (née Cieczkowski) (Adam, with their son Apollo). Diane also leaves behind her dear cousin Lana Parker (Lee), her former husbands, Leslie "Bud" McArthur and Stanley Cieczkowski, and her devoted partner, Bruce Thoms.
Born in Campbellton, New Brunswick, Diane lived a vibrant life filled with love, family, and community. She spent her formative years in Sept-Îles, Quebec, and Etobicoke, Ontario, before embracing the tranquility of Rice Point, Prince Edward Island. Diane’s life was enriched by her love of singing, music, Stanhope beach, Indigenous Art, Charlottetown Farmer’s Market, her warm embrace of diverse cultures, and her commitment to making everyone feel welcome.
Fluent in both French and English, Diane’s bilingualism was a cornerstone of her volunteer work with the Newcomer Association, where she played a vital role in helping new Canadians find their footing and feel at home in the small communities of PEI.
Diane’s legacy is one of fun, inclusion, and love. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know her.
