Brian worked as chief scaler at JD Irving in Deersdale for the majority of his life. He attended Hillcrest United Church regularly, serving as Treasurer of the Cemetery Committee. Brian was a longstanding member of the Upper Nashwaak Lions Club.

In his spare time, Brian enjoyed being outdoors and in the woods. He was an avid cribbage player. He enjoyed reading Western novels and watching Western movies on TV. Anyone that knew Brian knew of his obsession for the Maple Leafs. Above all else, Brian loved being home and his family meant more to him that anything. His favourite family activity, besides celebratory and holiday gatherings, was reading to his grandchildren.
