Obituary of Robert Delbert Whalen

The passing of Robert “Bob” Delbert Whalen of Fredericton, NB, husband of Heather (Murphy) Whalen, occurred on Friday, November 15, 2024 at Hospice House Fredericton.  Born on June 20, 1940 in Renous, NB, he was the son of the late Edison and Hilda (Gillespie) Whalen. Bob worked for Early Bird Eggs, enjoyed playing darts and hunting. He was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous and a past member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #80 in Nashwaak Bridge.

In addition to his loving wife, Heather, Bob is survived by his daughters, Penny Finnamore (Allan) of Fredericton, Judie Acquin (late Stan) of Penniac, Angee Acquin of St. Mary's; grandchildren, Blake and Rob Finnamore, Autumn Acquin-Harris, Bronson Acquin-Mandisodza and Olivia Steen; five absolutely perfect great grandchildren; sisters, Marlene Hummerstone (Fred), Dorene Gamblin (Roland); along with several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Bob was predeceased by his brother, Terry Whalen; sisters, Jacqueline Donovan and Anne Blacquier.

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Monday, November 18, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.  A Funeral Service will be held at York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at 11 am with Rev. Sara Palmater officiating.  Honourary Pallbearers are Currie Langley, Jerry Nicholson, Dan Cleaveland, Mike Mills, Jeff Dunphy, Blake Finnamore, Rob Finnamore and Bronson Acquin-Mandisodza.
