Obituary of Ivan Arthur Dorcas

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ivan Arthur Dorcas on Friday, October 18, 2024 at the Nashwaak Villa in Stanley, NB. Ivan was a woodsman, worked as a DOT snowplow operator and on the chip seal crew as well as in the JD Irving sawmill in Deersdale. He enjoyed farming, hunting, listening to country music, watching old western movies and loved spending time with family.

Ivan is Survived by his loving and devoted wife, Jane (Brown) Dorcas of Stanley; his children, Melanie Buchanan, (Sid Wolters) of Geary, Adam Dorcas (Diane) of Williamsburg, Dawn Estey (Jarrett) of Penniac; his grandchildren, Tiffany, Dustin, Brianna (Parker), Mallory, Amelia; and great-grandson Westin; siblings, Daisy MacFarlane (Fred) of Fredericton, Jeff of Fredericton, Roxane Rickard (Tony) of Fredericton; Along with several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Lester Charles Dorcas and Jean Agnes (McNutt) Dorcas.

A special thank you is extended to the Nashwaak Villa and staff for their exceptional care, Horizon Health Dialysis Unit in Saint John and Fredericton, Halifax Health kidney Transplant Team and also to all his Health Care providers.

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 from 12 – 2 pm with a Memorial Service directly following in York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel at 2 pm with Rev. Lynn Hughes officiating. Interment will be in the Williamsburg Community Cemetery.
