Obituary of David Peter Hughes

 

With deep sadness the family of David Hughes, much loved son of Barbara and the late Donald Hughes, announce his passing on September 29, 2024 at the Toronto General Hospital.

 

He is survived by his brothers, Bruce (Monica) of Fredericton, Kevin (Joanne) of Quispamsis and sister, Susan (Jim) of Saint John. Sue kept vigil along with her daughter, Nikki during Dave’s final days in hospital.

 

We wish to express our gratitude and appreciation for the excellent care and compassion for David at the hospital, as well as to others who played a part in helping his grieving loved ones, including those who were unable to be there.

 

For the past several years David made his home in Toronto where he had access to world-class arts and cultural events and the opportunity to meet people from all over the world. He surrounded himself with a collection of curious vintage finds and interesting artwork. David had a generous heart as evidenced by donations to the Toronto General Hospital and other people in need. He was a tremendously unique individual who will be dearly missed by his family and others he encountered on his life’s journey.

Interment will take place at a further date with a family service where David will rest beside his father, Don, and older brother, Steven, at Ocean View in Saint John N.B.
