Obituary of Ryan Thomas Matthew Hoben

The family of Ryan Thomas Matthew Hoben is heartbroken to announce his passing on September 29, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.  He left us peacefully, surrounded by family and close friends, just as he would have wanted. 

Ryan is survived by his parents, Randy and Cathie Hoben; his brother Todd (Jill) Hoben; sister Erin (Corey) Wilson; niece Kyla (Jacob) Savoie; nephews Sam Mitchell, Wyatt and Noah Hoben, all of Fredericton; as well as close friend Kristin. He will be especially missed by his four-legged friend, Tia.

Ryan spent a significant portion of his life living in Vancouver, BC, where he built a network of lifelong friends, who became family.  He graduated from Vancouver Film school and appeared in several commercials and short films. As the lead singer of the band Minto, he released three albums and toured across Canada. 

Later, Ryan pursued his passion for education, graduating from Simon Fraser University in 2018. He taught in the Vancouver area before returning home to New Brunswick in 2022, continuing his dedication to teaching. 

Known for his zest for life and sense of humour, Ryan had an adventurous spirit and a dedication to his passions, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who loved him.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses at the DECH, the exceptional care provided at Hospice House Fredericton, and a special thanks to Dana for his support during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ryan’s name to Hospice House.
