Obituary of Edward Thomas Pelkey

The passing of Edward Thomas Pelkey of Fredericton, NB, husband of Marie Josephine (Ackerson) Pelkey, occurred on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Shannex - Medley Hall, Fredericton, NB. Born on January 22, 1925 in California Settlement, NB, he was the son of the late Albert and Inez (Turner) Pelkey. Edward worked as a Brakeman and Conductor for Canadian Pacific Railways, in his younger years he served in the Carleton and York Regiment as an Infantry Corporal and fought in Italy, Holland, France and Germany in World War II receiving many awards. He was a faithful member of Capital Community Church, he enjoyed fishing as well as hunting and was an avid gardener, always keeping his lawn and house looking it's best.

In addition to his loving wife of 43 years, Edward is survived by daughters, Janet Rees of Stanley, NB and Cheryl O'Neal (Aden) of Perth Andover, NB; sons, Allan Pelkey and Michael Pelkey, both of Lincoln, NB, and Shane Hoyt (Heidi) of Fredericton, NB; step-son, Kevin Chase (Sylvia) of Fredericton, NB; step-daughter, Debbie Gill (late Robert) of Fredericton, NB; 17 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren and one on the way; sister, Vera Sullivan; brothers, James Pelkey (Dorothy), Gary Pelkey (Linda), Graydon Pelkey and Donald Pelkey (Debbie) all of Perth Andover, NB and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by many siblings.

Visitation will take place at Capital Community Church, 71 Downing Street, Fredericton, NB on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 from 12 - 2 pm with the funeral service to follow at 2 pm with Rev. H. M. Lewis and Micah Pelkey officiating. Reception to follow. Pallbearers are Galvin McKeough, Logan DeYoung, Alex LeBlanc, Adam Pelkey, Charlie Pelkey and Chris Curver. Interment will take place in Ripples Community Cemetery, Ripples, NB. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Ripples Community Cemetery.
