Obituary of Edna Jean Wishart

Please share a memory of Edna to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

The passing of Edna Jean Wishart of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Bruce William Wishart, occurred on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, Fredericton, NB. Born on September 9, 1933 in Tabusintac, NB,  she was the daughter of the late Elmo G. and Helen (Loggie) Munroe.

Edna’s first love was nursing, After graduating from the Moncton Hospital School of Nursing in 1956 she began her career, making many long-lasting and meaningful relationships along the way. She was a natural caregiver, which continued long after her nursing career ended. Many people have been touched by her kind and generous nature.

A very special place in Edna’s heart was the Tabusintac beach, where she spent many a day beachcombing and clam digging, followed by a hot dog cooked over the open fire by Bruce.

Over the years she and Bruce travelled far and wide, finally settling on the island of Barbados for many winters. Here she built special relationships with both locals and fellow travellers. She loved her Barbados family very much.

Edna is survived by her children, Paul Wishart (Lori) of Calgary, AB, Jennifer Wishart (late Ron Hildebrand) of Tabusintac, NB, and David Wishart (Jill) of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Ian, Owen and Andrew Wishart and Emily Hildebrand and one great grandchild on the way, several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, parents and son-in-law, she was predeceased by her sister, Eleanor Munroe.

We would like to thank the many doctors, nurses and staff who were so good to her along the way, and to those who helped make her final journey a peaceful one.

Arrangements have been entrusted to York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB.
