CURTIS, GARFIELD DOUGLAS

1950-2024. Wife, Bonnie, of 55 years; sons, Jeffrey and his children, Ryan, Karlie and Katie; Mark and his child, Logan. Son of Lyman and Gussie Curtis; brothers and sisters, twin sisters, Florence and Frances, Jim, Mary, David, Eldon, Ellen Jane; brother in laws and sister in laws, Norma, Fidel, Reta, Chis and Edward; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews. Garfield’s family tree has more branches and leaves that the big elm at Frederick Square.

Predeceased by parents, Lyman and Gussie Curtis; brother Fred and sister Margaret.

Garfield was a hard working man, we called him the “old guy”. Garfield was a Labourer, Garfield worked for Pyrmid Mobile Homes, Maple Leaf Homes, York Steel, Jomar Moving, renovated homes, picked apples, farm work. He had a hardwood floor business, and as of late drove cars for Sullivans. Garfield would do any job for a dollar.  He was always ready to help out the old guys at Tim Hortons for handiwork around their homes.  Garfield built a few homes including his sons, Jeff and Mark.  He worked mainly in the mobile and modular home business where Ron Christie and Mac Trail sent him on his journey to becoming his own boss, Fredericton Manufactured Homes.

Garfield sure was a character, everyone who knew him can attest to this sarcastic, bantering from the “guys” at Tim’s to his grandchildren.  He knew how to make me laugh.  Garfield loved to eat, especially pizza and graham wafer pie, but since June 2024, he was no longer able to eat solid food, due to Esophageal cancer. He never smoked nor drank, except for the occasional beer after an Old Timers Hockey game.  Garfield was a collector, mainly of hockey cards and memorabilia – but he also had a collection of tea cups and saucers.

I could go on for pages on this guy. We were married at 18 and 16 years of age.  He supported me through happy times and my rock bottom.  Garfield will be missed.
