Arthur Leo Ley

With saddened hearts the family wish to announce the passing of Arthur Leo Ley of Fredericton, NB, husband of Catherine (MacNeil) Ley which occurred on Monday, September 23, 2024 at York Care Centre, Fredericton, NB. Born on October 5, 1927 in Sydney, NS, he was a son of the late Moses and Catherine (Petrie) Ley.

A true gentleman, who endeared himself to everyone he met. He epitomized what has been called “The Greatest Generation”. Always first to reach out and offer help, he spent his life serving and caring for others. A devoted son, loving husband to his beloved wife and a great inspiration to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren whom he took great pride in. He was a devoted catholic and volunteered with the church for many years. His career was spent serving in the Canadian Armed Forces.

In addition to his wife, Arthur is survived by his daughters, Mary Duguay (Rick) of Elora, ON and Laura Gordon (Paul) of Nashwaak Bridge, NB; sons, Arthur Ley (Deb) of Buffalo, NY, Jim Ley (Lisa) of Fredericton, NB, Sandy Ley (Lisa) of Fredericton, NB and Robert Ley of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Candice, Corey, David, Justin, Joey, Kenneth, Alex, Luke, Ian and Alexis; great grandchildren, Chloe, Callie, Clive and Liam; sister, Anna Sullivan of Sarnia, ON; along with several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Arthur was predeceased by his brother, Alexander Ley. 

Visitation and Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Thursday, September 26, 2024; visitation will be from 1- 2 pm; followed by a service at 2 pm with Father Maria Arokiam Chinnappan officiating.
