The Family of Carol Irene Humble announces her passing on September 1, 2024, at Hospice House in Fredericton, NB. 

Carol, born on January 28, 1941, in Nashwaak Bridge, York County, New Brunswick, is the eldest daughter of Merle MacFarlane and Kathleen (Gilmore) MacFarlane.

Carol graduated from Stanley High School in 1959.  She went on to study Nursing at Victoria Public Hospital in Fredericton NB, graduating as a Registered Nurse in 1963.  She started her career at the Victoria Public Hospital before moving to the Stanley Hospital, and eventually to the Stanley Nursing Home & Clinic.  She finished her career as the Manager of the Stanley Health Clinic retiring in 2000 and did casual work until 2005.

Carol is predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Fred Humble.  This loving mother is survived by her sons Laurie (Lynn) of Calgary, Alberta and Kevin (Nathalie) of Nashwaak Bridge, New Brunswick.  She also leaves behind her grandchildren Drew, Sarah, Janelle (Jordan Dickinson) and Garrett (Jaime-Lynn Arsenault) and step grandsons Cameron Rippe (Melissa) and Cole Rippe.  Great grandchildren, Bennett Humble (Deceased) and soon to be born Estella Dickinson.  She is also survived by her brother David MacFarlane (Nancy), Phyllis Miller, Ruth Hay (Russell) brother in-law David Steele, sisters in-law Isabelle Hunter, Elsie Hunter and Margaret Woodcock. Along with several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.  Carol is predeceased by her sister Marilyn Steele and brothers in-law Alex Miller, Arnold Hunter, Floyd Hunter and Ronald Woodcock.

Carol resided with her husband Fred in the house that they built in 1965 to 2020 in Nashwaak Bridge amongst family and friends until she moved to 300 Reynold St in Fredericton.

Carol was very involved in church and community, helping at church bake sales and yard sales at the Presbyterian Church.  She enjoyed watching and supporting her sons and grandchildren at various sporting events and extracurricular activities.  Carol was known for her delicious donuts.  In fact, the recipe has been shared with the restaurant where her grandson Drew is employed in Calgary and is known on the menu as Fred’s Favourites.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff at Hospice House, Homemakers Sandy Humble, Susan Merrill, Ally Munn and special friends Bernice Urquhart and Mary Goodspeed for all the love and care they have shown her.

There will be a visitation at the York Funeral Home Fredericton, NB on Friday Evening September 13, 2024, from 6:00-8:00pm.  The Funeral service will be held in Stanley at the St. Peter’s Presbyterian Church on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 2:00pm followed by a reception at the Church Hall and interment at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. For those who wish donations may be made to Hospice Fredericton (Palliative Care Resource Network). Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
