Obituary of Leo Michael David Burns

With a heavy heart, the family of Leo Michael David Burns, husband of the late Lois (Dunphy) Burns, announce his sudden passing on Tuesday, August 20, 2024. Born on July 28, 1941, he was the son of the late Leo Francis and Elsie (Taylor) Burns. Leo was a Meteorologist and Air Quality Specialist for NB Power until retirement. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force, coached baseball and hockey for many years, was a long-time member of the Nashwaaksis Y’s Men and a die-hard Toronto Maple Leafs fan.

 

Leo is survived by his sons, Michael Burns (Jana) of Cornwall, PEI, John Burns (Monette) of Fredericton; grandchildren, Molly Burns, Elianna Burns and Owen Burns; several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.


Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his son, Billy Burns; and sister, Elsie.


Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton. A Graveside Service will be held in Hillcrest United Cemetery, Stanley, NB on Friday, August 23, 2024 at 1 pm. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Nashwaaksis Y's Men.  Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
