Jennifer, Sherry and families,
Our hearts are saddened by the news of your father’s passing and we are deeply sorry for your loss. Your dad was very generous with his love for his family and an amazing caregiver for your mother during her illness. We were blessed by knowing them through our years at Gibson Memorial United Church. Thanksgiving is a very appropriate time to give thanks for his wonderful life as you celebrate all that his life and living mean to you and the many others he journeyed with through the years. We offer our sincere condolences as we see embrace you with “hugs” of friendship and love.

I was family doctor for both June (demise 2005) and George (2024). It was a great privilege to be their Family Doctor for many years since 1980s. June looked after George (with heart disease) and then George looked after June(kidney failure). I am adding this late as I was at my cottage in Westfield looking after my sister Mary and unaware of George's death.
Both were wonderful people, June always very easy, and George not so easy when it came to June's care which was a reflection of his love for June. He was much more easy about his own care and we became close friends. George was a wonderful man with a great family.

George was a remarkable person. He was generous and kind to all but especially loved his family. My fondest memories are spending family time together in Belledune and the Nashwaak. There was always laughter and joy. Of course, there were also the hotly contested cribbage games between us. He patiently taught me how to play and even permitted me to win on occasion! These are memories I will cherish forever and I will always miss Grampy. john

Sherry and Jen,
I was both shocked and saddened to hear about the loss of your dad, and my Uncle George. He was an incredible man with a heart of gold and like a second father to me. A man of integrity, full of love and kindness, and someone I looked up to my whole life! Our family will keep yours in our thoughts and prayers during this challenging time. My heart goes out to you both as you mourn the loss of the most loving father anyone could have.

Dear Jennifer and Sherry,
Don's parents, David and Dorothy Cochrane, were great friends with George and June. They especially loved spending time at their camp on the Nashwaak and going to Legion dances with them. Dorothy always said that George was a wonderful dancer and a great conversationalist.
We're very sorry for your loss. Your dad will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Dear Family of our "Neighbour George". I can honestly tell you in the 7 years I've lived across the street (at 741), your Dad was always a smile and a wave away. When my mom moved in with me in 2019, he was always so kind when he'd see her sitting out.
I had the chance to meet him a few times; after I got the dogs, he was keen to meet them. And this winter after a few days of snow and ice I popped over with my shovel to give him a hand with his front step. He was always the first out to mow or clean his driveway (I'm also like this) so I felt there must have been a reason there was still snow...I was happy to help and sad to learn that he wasn't supposed to be at the end of any labour due to illness. We had a great chat that day. I feel if we'd been given more time we would have been great friends...a great spirit he was, so kind and genuine.
From both mom (Ruth) and I, we send our deepest condolences to all who loved our Neighbour George. Thinking of you all at this time.
Sincerely,
Heidi Johnston
