Obituary of Peter Scott Judson Chase

Chase, Peter Scott Judson

1974 – 2024         

With a heavy heart, the family of the late Peter “Pete” Chase of Fredericton, announces his passing on August 5th 2024, at the Hospice House Fredericton palliative care residential facility after a strong and courageous journey with cancer. Born on July 16th 1974, he was the loved son of Sharon L. (Taylor) and Haldon M. Chase. 

Peter leaves to mourn, with loving memories, his mother and father, two brothers Christopher (Diane) of Shediac and Michael of Fredericton, a son Michael Donelle, a grandson, both of Fredericton. His friend and trusted husky companion Niki, and the love of his life, at his side until the end, Christine A Spencer. Grieving also are his family of sisters and brothers of the Fredericton, Woodstock, and Saint John New Brunswick Liquor Corporation (ANBL), and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Peter loved life, hunting and being with his ANBL staff. Even as he struggled to the end, he was determined to live, as when he said, “We are going to get through this”.                       

Peter dedicated 18 years of his life to ANBL. He rose through the ranks to become Manager, however chose to remain Assistant Manager of “his store”, the Fredericton Union St. facility. He trained and certified employees and was dedicated to their empowerment. As a local union representative, he ensured they were knowledgeable of their responsibilities and entitlements. For Peter, their health and safety were a top priority. No matter the time of day or night, he would drop everything and attend to the needs of others, either at home or at work.

Cremation has taken place on August 7th,2024.  As per the family’s request, a Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB from 2-4 pm. Donations may be made to the Hospice House Fredericton palliative care residential facility, a charity of your choice, or just go and plant a tree or flower in Peter’s memory.
