Ella Alice Cookson

 The passing of Ella Alice Cookson of Stanley, NB, wife of the late Chester Cookson, occurred on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at Hospice Fredericton.  Born on March 13, 1939 in Tay Falls, NB, she was a daughter of the late Laughlin and Winnifred (MacKinnon) Plume. 

Ella enjoyed reading, puzzles, knitting, birdwatching and tending to her flowers and plants. She loved making quilts for her family’s special occasions.  She cherished time spent with family and friends who were fortunate to be able to enjoy her excellent cooking and baking.  She was a member of Cross Creek Baptist Church where she enjoyed serving and participating in activities with her church family.

 Ella is survived by her children, Kathy O'Hara (Robert), Anne Carson (Mack), Tina Sellick (David) and Robert Cookson (Starr); grandchildren, Kerensa Turner (Josh) and Nic O'Hara (Valerie), Alison Carson (Bj) and Julie Carson (Aaron), Tyler Sellick (Chelsea) and Jill Ames (Jarrett) and Sam and Ben Cookson; great grandchildren, Isabelle Turner, Brody Williams and Tessa Ames; sister, Margaret Cookson; brother, Mike Plume (Sylvia); sisters-in-law Eileen Plume and Shelley Dickens; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and parents, Ella was predeceased by her brothers, George Plume and Robert Plume; brother-in-law, Carl Cookson.

 Her family would like to thank the staff at the Stanley Health Centre, Stanley Outreach, Extramural, 3 East at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital and Hospice Fredericton for the wonderful care provided.

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 from 12-2 pm; followed by a Funeral Service at 2 pm with Pastor Gordon Mowry officiating.  Interment will take place in Cross Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Cross Creek, NB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Fredericton (Palliative Care Resource Network Inc.) or Cross Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.  Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
