Obituary of Cynthia Mary Frances Fitzgerald

With great heartache, the family of Cynthia Mary Frances Fitzgerald of Stanley, NB, wife of the late James “Jim” Fitzgerald, announce her sudden passing on Friday, June 14, 2024 at her home in Stanley.  Born on November 23, 1952 in Edmunston, NB, she was the daughter of the late Maurice Poitras and the late Winnie (Foley) Bourque. 

As a nurse, Cynthia started her career at the Victoria Public Hospital and returned to the same building to complete her career years later. In years past, she enjoyed her walks with her dog, Casey at “the farm” while living in Lincoln. She was always involved in her church, especially the choir.

Cynthia’s greatest love and joy was her family. From swapping recipes with Brad on the phone to attending all of her grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. Family was the center of her life.

Left to mourn are her children, Brad Fitzgerald (Tami) of Charlottetown, Meghan Fitzgerald of Stanley and Ashley Page (Murray) of Stanley; grandchildren, Abigale, Wyatt, Tristan, Collin, Nathaniel and Karington; brother, Vernon Poitras of Edmunston; sister, Donna Maxwell (Wayne) of Dartmouth.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Merald Poitras; and sister, Lynn Richard.

Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 from 3-4 pm and will be followed directly by a Funeral Service at 4 pm with Pastor Gordon Mowry and Pastor Joe Crummy officiating.  Interment will take place in Cross Creek Baptist Cemetery, Cross Creek at a later date.
