Obituary of Alycia Weir

The family of Marjorie Alycia Weir are deeply saddened by our sweet mother's passing at York Care Centre on Thursday, June 6, 2024. Alycia was born in Morell, PEI on September 2, 1944 to the late Herb and Mary (Flynn) McDermid. She spent her childhood in Morell with her sisters, Lorraine, Kaye, Veronica and Bernadette.

Alycia is survived by her beloved children, Michael, Maureen, Alan, Alma, David and Duane. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her infant brother, Michael; sister, Kaye; nephew, Kevin; her daughter in law, Angela; granddaughter in law, Melissa; and great granddaughter, Layla.

Alycia dedicated her life to raising her children. Her greatest joy in life was her 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Her love for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was immense and they are her legacy.

Alycia relied on her faith throughout her life and trusted in God to get her through the bad times and always gave them thanks. When her children turned to her for advice she always said “put it in God's hands”.

Alycia's family wish to thank the caring staff of Tower 3, York Care Center. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to York Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, June 15th, 2024 at 11:00 am in Morell, PEI at St. Theresa, the Little Flower and she will be laid to rest with her parents following the service.
