MUNN, Minnie Elizabeth (Fairley)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Minnie Elizabeth (Fairley) Munn, surrounded with love, the scent of lilacs and the peace of a life so well lived. She went to heaven to meet her predeceased husband, Murray Munn on Wednesday, May 22, 2024. They were married for 66 years. She is the daughter of the late Joseph and Ada (Woodcock) Fairley and daughter-in-law of the late Archibald and Winnifred (Davidson) Munn. Minnie was born on September 30, 1937. She was involved with Murray Munn & Sons and B & M Contractors.

Minnie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. She enjoyed bowling, sewing, traveling, camping, playing cards, spending time with family and was known for shopping. She belonged to TOPs and was a KOPs for 49 years. Minnie loved to travel. She and Murray went to Florida, Texas, England, Scotland, Hawaii, Ontario, and out West.

Minnie is survived by her children, Larry Munn (Corine), Dwight Munn (Sherry), Beverly Dorcas (Garth), and Keith Munn (Gale); brothers, Arden Fairley (Rhoda) and Bertie Fairley; sisters, Geraldine Girouard, Sylvia Green (Everett), Shirley Webster (Leigh), Carolyn Smith (Brian); brother-in-law, Laurie Munn (Gladys); sisters-in-law, Esther Forbes and Bertha Woodcock. Minnie had 14 grandchildren, Tanya Bates (Michael), Mindy Bloom (David), Scott Munn (Brittany), Aaron Munn (Sarah), Amy Little (Paul), Andrea Richmond (Mark), Anita Dyck (Glen), Alisabeth Murphy (John), Abegail Munn, Veronica Perrin (Lee), Jenna Perry (Jeff), Christopher Munn (Jenna), Todd Munn (Em Hall), Kaitlyn Munn and 27 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by brothers, Joseph Fairley and Gerald Fairley; sister, Stella (Fairley) Ross; sister-in-law, Noreen (Munn) MacDonald and brother-in-law, Elva Munn.

Special thank you to the doctors and nurses of 3 East and 4 East at the DECRH.

We would also like to thank the Hospice Fredericton nurses, palliative care doctors, volunteers, and all other staff as you made Minnie’s last days so much at ease, calming, and peaceful for her.

Visitation will be at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Monday, May 27, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8pm. The Funeral Service will be held from York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at 11am with Rev. Terry Woodcock officiating. Reception to immediately follow the service and burial to take place in the Nashwaak Bridge Community Cemetery. For those unable to attend, a live webcast of the service is available on the funeral home website. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Hospice Fredericton or the Canadian Cancer Society.
