Obituary of Melvin Otis Waugh

It is with heavy hearts that the family announce the passing of Melvin Otis Waugh of Douglas, NB, husband of the late Jennette (Bartlett) Waugh, on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at York Care Centre.  Born on April 26, 1938 in Douglas, he was the son of the late Howard and Jean (Currie) Waugh. Melvin was a heavy equipment operator for over 40 years with Bemrose & Kilburn. He loved to fly fish and was a past member of the Salmon Association. Melvin also belonged to various four-wheeling clubs and enjoyed being outdoors, especially trips to the camp at Grand John.

Melvin is survived by his children, Tim Waugh (Cheryl), Kelly Waugh (Yvon Paquin), Donna Coyle (Mike) all of Douglas; grandchildren, Jordan (Liz), Josh (Eve), Brittany (Terry), Megan, Trisha, Courtney (Corey); 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Mavis Kendrick; sisters-in-law, Linda Waugh, Evelyn Waugh, Shirley McKinley, Cheryl Arnold, Pat Dupuis, Wanda Bartlett.

Besides his parents and wife of 64 years, Melvin was predeceased by his brothers, Lloyd, Darrell, Allison, Doug and Bill; sisters, Leone Townsend and Ann Miles; infant sisters, Gweneth Mae and Carol Jean.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the staff of Tower 2 at York Care Centre for their excellent care, compassion and kindness extended to their father and them during his time there.  Their comfort and support will not be forgotten.

A Memorial Service will be held at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Monday, May 27, 2024 at 1 pm with Rev. Peter Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Dayton Cemetery, Fredericton.
