Burla (Gilbert) Muncaster posted a condolence
Saturday, May 25, 2024
Aunt Mary has always had a special place in my heart. From my earliest childhood she has been a role model and mentor. I could always count on her sage advice and kind words whenever I had worries or puzzling questions.
Together we shared a love of sewing and fashion. Many days I spent occupying her sewing machine as I attempted some new fashion creation. Her tips and patience set a standard to which I took with me through my adult life. From Aunt Mary I learned how to put together an outfit and look well turned out no matter the occasion. We poured over “McCall’s” magazines and pattern books looking for the next project.
No one could make peanut butter cookies like her. A sheet of her cookies, fresh from the oven, were picture perfect and tastier than anyone else’s. She could make Swiss chard taste like a delicacy that complimented her savoury casseroles. Seconds were most welcome.
Aunt Mary’s welcoming greeting, “ come in, come in” meant you would be made to feel comfortable and your visit would be relaxing and entertaining. She had a wide group of friends because of her cheerful and engaging manner.
With all the cousins and relatives scattered far and wide, Aunt Mary managed to keep us all in touch with telephone calls and emails while sharing the comings and goings of those of us far from “ home”.
I shall miss our frequent chatty visits on the telephone.
“Auntie”, I shall miss you but will never forget you.
Much love, Burla

Dear Uncle Henry, Doug, Anne and all your families,
So many wonderful moments. Such comfort and love. These are memories we all fondly remember from the many visits to your home from the US.
We remember mostly the gentleness and great love that Aunt Mary shared with each one of us.
The great aromas coming from her kitchen- the biscuits , the creamed fish, the tea and coffee, the desserts!
All these will forever be a sweet reminder of our Aunt Mary.
God bless you and comfort you Uncle Henry and all your family.
With much love, prayers and condolences, Cheryl, Janet, Michael, Don and Joan.
